Trying food ( a post that wouldn't load before)

So two weeks ago, we started feeding Grade cereal.  The first couple of times it was a lot of trying to get something to stay in her mouth.  She wasn't so sure what was happening.  However it isn't that way anymore.  She knows what I am trying to do and she doesn't enjoy it too much.  Why, I am not sure.  She is getting food, who wouldn't love being fed?  Anyway, I think that the problem is that she isn't too sure how to swallow.  So it is a scream fest.  I have tried giving her a drink in between bites to help with swallowing.  Friends have suggested that I try mixing it with a little bit of fruit.  I might try that.  I am sure that she will get used to eating and like other things this is a learning experience.
She is always changing and growing of course.  Rolling over has become much easier.  She doesn't continuly roll to get places but rolling from her tummy to back is quickly accomplished most times.  She also is lifting her head up pretty far while laying on her tummy.  Her newest favorite thing to do it blow bubbles.  It is quite cute!

It has been way too long!

Oh my goodness!  I can't believe that I have failed to write a post since March!!  Wow, I guess that is what happens when you have a full time job outside of the home in which you are a mom and a wife.  Before I update on Grace, I have to say that I love being a mom and feel so blessed to be Grace's mom.  How awesome is our God for giving us this precious child!

Where do I start with updates on Grace?  She has changed so much and continues to every day.  I can't believe that in a week she will be 6 months old.  Since I last posted, she has perfected rolling from her tummy to her back, she can do it quite quickly.  She has rolled from her back to her tummy but not as well as the other way.  Grace can scoot off of her blanket or playmat by pushing with her feet or rolling.  She hasn't however figured out that by doing those things that it has a purpose.  Grace can hold and play with her toys.  Sometimes she even can pick one up to play with on her own.

Grace has also taught herself how to "yell", some have compared it to a screeching cat!  I think that she has discovered her voice and that is why she does it.  She loves to blow bubbles and spit which makes for quite a mess and wet clothes.  But it is super cute (except for when she is eating)!  Speaking of eating, Grace now eats rice cereal  and a fruit daily as well as a vegetable in the evening.  She loves the vegetables but the cereal is still a challenge.

Grace loves her family and is an overall happy baby. What I can't put into words, maybe the pictures will tell.....

Grace can roll! On Wednesday night, March 14, I put her down for a nap and a short while later I heard her "talking". I decided I had better check on her and when I went into her room, she was laying on her back! She normally sleeps on her tummy in the middle of her bed. I was so excited to discover that she had rolled over, this time probably on purpose. (She has rolled over before when she was much younger but I think both of those times were on accident.) I immediately texted Cody and brought her to the blanket in the living room to encourage her to do it again. After a great effort, she rolled over again! After that I got her to do it once more. When Cody got home, she rolled over again just for dad.

I know this marks a milestone and that she is only going to become more mobile but I am just so excited that she can do it. As a first time mom I was worrying that she wasn't as strong as she should be. I just kept reminding myself that she was premature and that she might be a little behind. I will continue to be patient and enjoy every minute!

What a blessing...

This past weekend Grace was baptized at the church that I grew up in. She was also part of the baby dedication at our church in El Paso a couple of weeks ago. In both celebrations, I feel so very blessed. We are so blessed to have found a church that we can call our home and feel comfortable watching Grace grow in her faith. We dedicated our lives as parents to bring her up in a Godly home. We ill do our very best to make that happen. On Sunday when Grace was baptized, I looked out into the congregation and there were 30+ family members there for Grace. What a huge blessing it is to have such a wonderful family to help us in raising Grace! We are so thankful!
I never understood completely when parents would say "I wish time would slow down". I certainly understand that now! I was very blessed to have gotten to stay home with Grace for such a long time and now that I am back to work, I wish that time would slow down. It makes me cherish every moment I spend with her even more than I did before. I love being a mom and love watching Cody be a dad. Each of us has our own special bond with Grace, I look forward to continue to form that bond even more.
We love you tons Ms. Grace!

Changes

Where has the time gone? Grace is almost 3 months old! Which also means that I will have to go back to work. I have enjoyed every minute that I have spent with Grace and am very blessed to have gotten the extra time at home with her.
She is changing so much. Besides growing, she is responding a lot to our voices and responds with noises and smiles. Grace has started to sleep longer in the night and has even had 4 nights of sleeping all night.
Last weekend, was Graces' baby dedication at Grace Fellowship church. We dedicated ourselves to raise Grace in a Godly home. We also celebrated Grandma's 90th birthday.
We will continue to treasure each and every moment and change that happens. We love you Grace!

Happy 2 months!

Grace is officially two months old as of yesterday. With this milestone come many changes and new experiences for both mom and dad and Grace. She now responds very well to our voices. She will smile at us and "talk" to us. Grace can now follow a toy. She loves her cell phone that lights up and her glowing/singing sea horse (which we have named "Happy" since it makes her happy). Grace has graduated from her newborn things to bigger diapers and clothes.
We went for her 2 month check up today. She is weighing 9lbs 12oz. Grace also had to endure her first round of immunizations. She was a trooper!
We are loving every minute and every change. Thank you God for sending our beautiful daughter to us!
